What should doctors consider when discussing treatment and care with their patients?
From Wednesday 24 October 2018 to Wednesday 23 January 2019 the General Medical Council (GMC) is consulting on their revised 'Decision making and consent guidance', which sets out what doctors should consider when discussing treatment and care with their patients.
They've worked with a group of doctors, patients, and other health and care professionals to update our guidance, to make sure it's still clear, relevant, consistent with the law across the UK and structured in a way that's easy for doctors to refer to and use.
They want to hear from you to ensure the final guidance supports patients to make decisions in partnership with their doctors.
All are welcome to respond.
As well as the full consultation questionnaire, patients will also be able to tell the GMC what they think via their short survey for patients, if they prefer, which also sits within the survey tool above.
