We've released our annual report for 18/19!
Writing the Annual Report always brings home the real depth and range of the work we do.
Healthwatch Southwark had a brand new team in April 2018. We have still managed to listen to a huge number of local people, pull together events that enabled that voice to be heard at the top, and begin turning what we heard into solid evidence-based reports and recommendations.
We have worked on projects from thorough Enter and View at a nursing home, to hard-hitting focus groups about the experience of being a carer, to a small creative workshop on the experience of talking to the GP about asthma. We revitalised our work to reach seldom-heard communities through a project on Faith and Health, and our large-scale LGBTQ+ consultation, both in partnership with local community groups and the Council.
We were able to engage more intensively with 'big questions' about strategic change in the health and care system through our contract with the Lambeth and Southwark Strategic Partnership.
Meanwhile we kept up our ongoing influence work through speaking up at a wide range of commissioner and provider committees, and responding in depth to intelligence requests.
We also saw a 33% increase in contacts to our signposting service.
We couldn't do any of this without the willingness of so many members of the public, like you, to share their stories and open up about what they really want from services.
Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with us this year. Thank you so much also to our excellent volunteers, who give their time and skills to help us reach far more people and tap into far more conversations.
You are all much appreciated!
