Talking Therapies Southwark is here to help!
Talking Therapies Southwark is the local NHS service which offers psycho-educational courses & workshops, and psychological therapies to Southwark residents 16+ experiencing low mood, stress, depression and anxiety.
The foundation offers e-learning courses including Space from Depression, Space from Panic and Space from Phobias. Yhey can be accessed via computer, tablet or phone, and there is a therapist or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner who monitors progress and provides support.
There are also workshops in community settings which cover a variety of topics such as:
- Improve your Sleep
- Goal Setting
- DIY Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Thinking about Thinking
- Body as Ally: physical activity
- Introduction to Mindfulness
As well as workshops, there are specialist courses which run for 3-8 weeks. Some of the current groups on offer include:
- Coping with grief and loss
- Wellbeing for people with long term physical health conditions
- Behavioural Activation for Depression
- LGBQ group for Depression and Anxiety
After taking a foundation course, follow-on options including individual or couple therapy may be recommended to address particular types of problems or when more individual support is
needed to use the strategies learnt in the foundation stage.
